It is highly fortunate that IMAP will will identify the true name of the
INBOX.

We even know what IMAP will say:

INBOX

So, the client doesn't even have to ask the IMAP server what the name of the
INBOX is. It knows because it's an IMAP client.

You seem to be distracted by the notion that the INBOX is sometimes reachable
by some other string on some systems. That is a detail that is of no
importance whatsoever, thanks to the foresight of IMAP's design.

This is a Very Good Thing.
