Folks,
I've been distracted by my day job these past few months (hmmm, that sounds
familiar :-)...
Anyway, I requested two meeting slots for VPIM. And we had two, but were
then bumped to one because of the demand for slots. Do folks think it would
be useful to have a pre-meeting (aka Bar BOF) to discuss any burning issues?
The Internet Draft submission deadline has been split this time. For new
'-00' drafts (including those that replace drafts in the draft-ema-vpim-
root), the deadline is this Friday, November 17th. For all other drafts the
deadline is next Friday, November 24th.
Note that John or I have to confirm your draft (under the draft-ietf-vpim-
root) is part of the charter to the ID editor in order for it to be
published, so remember to copy us.
In any case here are the topics that I think we will want to discuss and put
on the agenda:
VPIM milestones
I need to update these (mostly indicating that items are completed)
VPIM v2
Greg & I will likely have a new draft out to discuss (the old one is
draft-ietf-vpim-vpimv2r2-00.txt) based on some comments we have received. I
hope to also issue drafts for the other VPIM v2 RFCs (2422-4) that need to
be elevated to Draft Standard. However, the interesting discussion (I hope)
will be on the status of moving the dependencies like DSN and MDNs forward
to Draft Standard. I hope to give a short update on the bakeoff we held as
well...
VPIM Directory
There are two topics here. The first is the global address resolution
provided by ENUM. Greg has already updated the draft on VPIM's use of ENUM
(draft-ietf-vpim-routing-01.txt). Secondly, we need to close on the VPIM
schema (Greg & Anne merged their proposals in
draft-ietf-vpim-vpimdir-00.txt). I plan to do a WG last call on this before
the meeting.
VPIM Addressing
This draft will be reissued in the IETF root (the last one was
draft-ema-vpim-address-01.txt) and I plan to do a last call on this one as
well (we had to wait until the GSTN dependency finished last call)
IVM
The goals document will be updated by Emily (it was
draft-ema-vpimv3-goals-01.txt). We will need to discuss if we should last
call this to Informational or just leave it. Stuart & I created the IVM
base for the last meeting (draft-ietf-vpim-ivm-00.txt) and may update it for
this meeting. The WAV & MS-GSM are long expired and need an update from
Microsoft - stay tuned. As well, I think that we are closer on the
primary/critical content concept, its requirements and implications. Eric
updated critical content (draft-ietf-vpim-cc-01.txt) so we will discuss
that. I would hope we will see a updated the content hint draft
(draft-ietf-vpim-hint-00.txt), but I suspect that we have dropped the need
for PNDN (unless the Fax WG wants it...)
VPIM Addenda
These may or may not fall under our charter but I still think they are
relevant and useful to review. I am expecting to see the following:
- a new/revised IMAP draft on telset playback of voice messages
- a draft on extended headers (for spoken name, subject, etc.)
- an updated draft on putting CLID info in the headers
- an updated draft on desired client behaviour when dealing with voice mail
- a revised draft on ESMTP binary
- a draft on using SIP for unified messaging
- a draft on profiling VPIM et al for 3G wireless
How does this sound? Is there anything I am missing?
Cheers,
Glenn.
