Not really. The length of a FAX page is variable and can be very long in
practice. And different printers handle this situation very differently -- old
machines that use roll paper simply use as much paper as they need, whereas
machines using cut paper sometimes scale and sometimes use multiple pages.

In general all you can do is put the number of FAX pages in the header. The
number of printer pages may or may not be the same.

BTW, don't assume that long FAX pages are uncommon -- I've seen plenty of
FAX setups where nothing but long pages are produced.
