this is a kind of a subtle point, but my proposal wasn't quite what
you've got in your table above. or, at any rate, your table could be
interpreted a different way from what i meant.
what i meant to propose was that ivm implementations MUST
default to recording in one of the two codecs required for playing. if
an implementation chooses to only allow recording in its default
recording codec (provided that is either mu-law or ms-gsm), that
would be ok. of course, you MAY allow recording in both, or in a
different codec entirely.
i'm not sure how you express this requirement in the tabular format
you lay out above. if you want to expand the requirement to MUST
support recording in either, i have no real objection. i'd rather keep
the requirements as loose as possible, but there would be no
obstacle for my product to supporting recording in both formats.
