I would guess that the "Multimedia Programming Interface and Data
Specifications" book is out of print although I haven't gone to great
lengths to confirm this.

I have always relied on the document "Multimedia Standards Update"
(RIFFNEW.DOC) that is part of the Multimedia registration kit (MDRK.EXE)
that can be found at
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q120/2/53.asp.
Unfortunately, this document has not been revised since 1994. It contains
the registered formats for mu-law and GSM 610 but not for G.726. The GSM 610
format documented my be slightly different from the way it is documented in
draft-ema-vpim-wav-00.txt.

Perhaps Microsoft could be convinced to update the "Multimedia Standards
Update" document to reflect new format registrations and any other changes
made since 1994.

Ah, good, a "proper" reference :-)

Is it available online? Is there a URL?
