I don't remember any discussion about simple vs. full mode. If you're
adding a 'goal' of 'compatibility with Internet Fax', I'd expect that
you might make reference not only to "Simple Mode" (RFC 2305) but also
the Fax "Terminology and Goals" (RFC 2542) and "Extended Mode" (RFC 2532).
I believe that some of the goals for VPIM are more in alignment with
Extended Mode than Simple Mode, and that if you are designing protocol
elements and applications with the same intent, it is advantageous to
use the same mechanisms or to at least justify differences.
